Delta Axis is a non-profit visual arts organization that manages Power House exhibitions and that has been presenting contemporary art to Memphis audiences for over fourteen years. Delta Axis' mission is to present contemporary art and film and link Memphis with other global artistic communities. Since its inception, Delta Axis has been the only organization in Memphis dedicated exclusively to contemporary art, fulfilling a crucial role in one of the most creative and exciting arts communities in the South. Power House Memphis is a contemporary art space that serves as a laboratory for experiments and experiences. Power House is housed within a 4,000-square-foot brick and glass building. Our organization leverages the folklore of Elvis, Memphis, and its vibrant music and visual arts community to attract internationally recognized artists to create special projects or installations for our venue. Power House Memphis’ main exhibition program offers four seasonal solo exhibitions that may not only be two or three dimensional works, but performance art and film works. In 2003 Power House Memphis, modified by architect Coleman Coker, won an award for “Best Historical Building Conversion” in Memphis. Since opening in 2003, this venue has brought to Memphis audiences exhibitions, installations and performances by such notable artists as William Eggleston, Mary Ellen Caroll, Paul Graham, Wangechi Mutu, Janet Cardiff, George Bures Miller, and George Condo, among others.
An additional exhibition program that the Power House presents is our Fuel Room series, which gives the opportunity for talented emerging artists within the national, regional, and local arena to exhibit their work. Proposals for the fuel room are reviewed on a rolling basis and all inquiries and proposals should be sent to
